Peanut Butter Cookies from the Forties Recipes
Ingredients

1/2 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions

In a medium bowl, cream together the peanut butter,
butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg. the flour, baking
soda, baking powder and salt; stir into the peanut butter mixture. Cover
dough and chill for at least one hour.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Roll the dough into walnut sized balls. Place the cookies 2 inches apart
onto the cookie sheet.

Flatten balls with a fork. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes
in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5
minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
