Spaghetti Sauce II Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 (28 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes
  • 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 1 pound Italian sausage (optional)

first Directions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Saute onions and garlic until tender, 2-3 minutes. Add remaining ingredients (except sausage links) and simmer over low heat for 3 hours.
  2. With one hour cooking time remaining, cook and brown sausages in a skillet. When browned, place in sauce and continue to simmer. Remove bay leaves before serving. Serve over hot cooked noodles, with sausages on the side.

Lemon Lover's Pound Cake Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 5 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups sour cream
  • ICING:
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon peel

first Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in lemon juice, peel and extract. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Beat just until combined.
  2. Pour into a greased and floured 10-in. fluted tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. For icing, in a small mixing bowl, beat the sour cream and butter until blended. Gradually add confectioners' sugar. Beat in lemon juice and peel. Drizzle over the cake. Store in the refrigerator.

Whipped Sweet Potato Casserole Healthy Side Dish Recipes

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds sweet potato, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cubed
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows


first Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large saucepan cook sweet potatoes in salted water over medium-high heat for about 20 minutes, or until done. Drain, and add orange juice, brown sugar, nutmeg and butter. Whip until smooth. Spread into a medium size casserole dish and top with marshmallows.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until marshmallows are golden brown.
